Kälte und Hunger nur wärmen und nähren mich, Wind nur und Nacht und Schnee kleiden und decken mich. Drohungen, Schelteworte, Schläge und Stöße haben die Leute für all mein Flehen als Antwort nur. Fort in das Walddickicht flücht' ich mich, berg' ich mich. Hunger jedoch bald zurück wiederum mich treibt. Hab keine Kräfte mehr, bin dem Verschmachten nah. Herrchen, mein gütiges, Herrchen erbarmt euch mein! Hunger tut bitter weh! Kälte gefriert das Blut. Herrchen erbarmt euch des hungernden, frierenden, schutzlosen, elenden Waisenkinds!
