Trost unglücklicher Liebe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): DUT FRE
Ihr mißvergnügten Stunden,
Wie groß ist eure Zahl!
So mehrt nur Schmerz und Wunden
Und tötet mich einmal!
Ihr aber, sanfte Triebe,
Kömmt Schlaft nur mit mir ein;
Denn jenes, was ich liebe,
Wird doch nicht meine sein.
Du liebtest mit so warmem,
So vollem Herzen mich:
Nun hält dich in den Armen
Ein Glücklichrer als ich,
Und meinen heissen Küssen,
O Schicksal, hast du sie
Wie dieser Welt entrissen!
Allein auf ewig nie!
Dort, unter Himmels Lauben,
Find'ich, Geliebte, dich:
O wonniglicher Glauben!
Du nährst und stärkest mich,
Du hauchest meinem Herzen
Neukräftigs Leben ein
Und milderst mir den Schmerzen,
Die Qual, ein Mensch zu sein.

Consolation d'un amour malheureux
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Consolation d'un amour malheureux
Vous, heures déplaisantes,
Comme vous êtes nombreuses !
Vous augmentez la douleur et les blessures
Et me tuez en même temps !
Mais vous, douces pulsions
Venez, dormez seulement avec moi ;
Car celle que j'aime
Ne devient pourtant pas mienne.
Toi, très chère à moi,
Avec un cœur si chaud et si plein :
Maintenant tu t'arrêtes dans les bras
D'un plus heureux que moi,
Et mes ardents baisers,
Ô destin, tu les as
Comme ce monde repoussés
Pour toujours à jamais !
Là-bas, sous les arcades des cieux,
Je te trouve, ma bien-aimée :
Ô croyance délicieuse !
Tu me nourris et me réconforte,
Tu répands dans mon cœur
Une vie pleine d'une nouvelle force
Et adoucis pour moi les douleurs,
Le supplice, d'être un homme.
