In der Luft, der schwülen feuchten, Wogt das Feld, und [stürmend]1 ziehn Windesrauschen, Wetterleuchten Durch den dunklen Himmel hin. Ferne hallt des Donners Dröhnen -- Und des Lebens ganze Kraft Klingt aus diesen Wundertönen Nachtumwölkter Leidenschaft! Was der Tag an Sonnengluten Aufgesogen, strömt hier aus -- In den Wolken, auf den Fluten, In dies weite Grün hinaus! Und inmitten all' des Webens Trag' ich stumm die heiße Last, Die du2, Sonne meines Lebens, In dies Herz ergossen hast!
