Unter Blütendolden
Bienlein golden,
Weiße Turteltauben schwingen
Hoch zum Himmel sich;
Sonnenlicht das helle
Küßt die Welle;
Mädchen! Und in's Aug' Dir dringen
Thränen bitterlich?
"Mein kein Bienlein denket,
Ach, mich kränket,
Daß ich unter Turteltauben
Immer bin allein!
Weil die Lieb' entbehre,
Fließt die Zähre,
Mich beglückt kein freudig Glauben,
Daß ein Liebstes mein!"

Antithesis
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Under flower-umbrels
Little golden bees,
White turtledoves lift themselves
High toward Heaven;
The bright sunlight
Kisses the wave;
Maiden! And into your eyes come
Tears bitterly?
"No little bee thinks of me,
Ah, I am aggrieved
That among the turtledoves
I am always alone!
Because I go without love,
My tears flow,
I am not made happy by any joyful belief
That a beloved is mine!"
