Zuerst war Eros im goldenen Licht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Zuerst war Eros im goldenen Licht
und wir wurden im Hag
als sein Hochgedicht
am strahlenden Tag
von ihm erschaffen.
Wir Vögel, vor den Göttern erwacht,
der Tiefe entstammt,
wir Enkel der Nacht,
vom Tag überflammt,
wir sind die Liebe!

At first, in the golden light, was Eros
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
At first, in the golden light, was Eros
And we were in the grove
As his noble poem,
On the radiant day
That he had created.
We birds, awakened before the gods,
Originating from the depths,
As grandchildren of Night,
Enflamed by Day,
We are Love!
