Der holde, liebe Frühlingsregen weiß, Wann die Natur ihn sich ersehnt. Er naht, Und neues Leben blüht in seiner Spur. Er hat die Nacht gewählt zu seiner Ankunft, Er kam auf einem weichen, warmen Winde Und netzte alles sanft mit seinem Tau. Die Wolken lagen gestern abend dunkel Über dem Weg, der mich nach Hause führte, Einzelne Lichter blinken auf dem Strom. Nun in der Frühe leuchten alle Felder, Der Himmel lacht, und süßer Duft der Blumen Quillt wohlig aus den kaiserlichen Gärten.
