Loosin yelav
Language: Armenian (հայերեն)
Available translation(s): ENG

The moon rose
Language: English  after the Armenian (հայերեն)
The moon rose from behind the mountain,
High up the mountain, from over the summit
Dark blonde - its singular face
beamed out over the whole world.
Greetings, dear moon with your dear moonlight
and your round, bright face!
The darkness did not fade
nor did it disperse or burn off;
the moonlight chased it
among the dark clouds.
Greetings, dear moon with your dear moonlight
and your round, bright face!
Translator's note for the word "Greetings", appearing in stanzas 2 and 4: "ջան" [jan] is an exclamation of joy or pleasure, like “Cheers!” or “Oh my dear one!”
