Die Nacht ist still, ich stehe am Fenster, am Monde vorüber die Wolken fliehn, mit leisem Singen oben, hoch oben, den Augen nicht sichtbar, die Singschwäne ziehn. Das klingt und singt durch die nächtliche Stille, das singt und klingt und klingt und singt so sehnsuchtsvoll nach jenem Lande, das ihnen als Heimat winkt. Meine Gedanken, die wandern wie Schwäne hell und schimmernd durch die Nacht und singen Lieder in deine Träume, du schläfst, und dein roter Mund, der lacht.
