Ging heut morgen übers Feld, Tau noch auf den Gräsern hing; Sprach zu mir der lust'ge Fink: "Ei du! Gelt? Guten Morgen! Ei gelt? Du! Wird's nicht eine schöne Welt? Zink! Zink! Schön und flink! Wie mir doch die Welt gefällt!" Auch die Glockenblum' am Feld Hat mir lustig, guter Ding', Mit den Glöckchen, klinge, kling, Ihren Morgengruß geschellt: "Wird's nicht eine schöne Welt? Kling, kling! Schönes Ding! Wie mir doch die Welt gefällt! Heia!" Und da fing im Sonnenschein Gleich die Welt zu funkeln an; Alles Ton und Farbe gewann Im Sonnenschein! Blum' und Vogel, groß und klein! "Guten Tag, ist's nicht eine schöne Welt? Ei du, gelt? Schöne Welt?" Nun fängt auch mein Glück wohl an? Nein, nein, das ich mein', Mir nimmer blühen kann!

Hvor verden tiltaler meg!» Også blåklokkene på marken talte lystig til meg, ringte med sine små klokker, kling, kling, deres morgenhilsen ringer: «Blir det ikke en vakker verden? Kling, kling! Fine saker! Hvor verden tiltaler meg!» Og da, i solskinn, begynte verden plutselig å glitre; alt fikk mer og mer lyd og farger i solskinnet! Blomster og fugler, store og små! «God dag, er det ikke en vakker verden? Hei, ikke sant? En vakker verden?» Nå starter kanskje også min lykke? Jeg gikk ut i den stille natten langt over de mørke heiene. Ingen bød meg farvel. Farvel! Mine følgesvenner var kjærlighet og lidelse. Ved veien står det et lindetre, der falt jeg for første gang i rolig søvn! Under lindetreet, som lot sine blomster snø over meg, Der visste jeg ikke hvordan verden fortsatte, [...] Alt! Alt; kjærlighet og lidelse og verden og drømmer!
