Das Mondlicht scheint in Fülle Mit der Gestirne Glast: Wir gehen froh und stille Und halten uns umfaßt. Und von der Nacht Gewande Strömt mächtig über die Lande Und löset alle Bande Der Thau der süßen Rast. O Zauber ohne Ende! So göttlich bist du nicht, Als wenn mein Lieb die Hände Mir um den Nacken flicht. Von jener goldnen Ferne Wend' ich die Augen gerne -- Mir leuchten nur zwei Sterne, Und doch mit hell'rem Licht.
