Weither treibt seine Schafe Durch's Dunkel der tosende See, Es weckt mich auf vom Schlafe, Die Augen thun mir so weh! Sonst fuhr da herüber ein Knabe, Dem war ich von Herzen gut, Ihn aber hat zum Grabe Hinabgezogen die Fluth. Was murmelt der See am Steine, Was hat er ihm vertraut? Er weiß es, warum ich weine, Ich arme, verlassene Braut.
