Wenn in dem Frühling die Erd' erwacht, Wie mag's ihr zu Muthe wohl sein? Und tritt ein Bächlein aus dunklem Schacht, Was fällt ihm da wohl ein? Der Rose, die sich über Nacht Erschloß, was fällt ihr wohl ein? Und wenn ein Mädchen zur Lieb' erwacht, Wie mag's ihr um's Herze sein? -- -- Ich fragte den Bach, die Rose dann, Ich fragte die Erde drum; Sie alle lachten mich selig an, Und blieben doch alle stumm. Und als mein Liebchen ich auch gefragt, Die sonst so Vieles weiß, Da hat auch sie lein Wort gesagt, Und küßte mich still und heiß. Ein Thränlein rann ihr die Wangen hin, Selig schaute sie drein. -- Nun denk ich so in meinem Sinn: Soll das eine Antwort sein?
