Es tönet über das weite Feld ein liebliches Glockengeläute; wie ist so ruhig heut' die Welt, so sonnig und wonnig heute. Die Hirten neben der Herde ruh'n, die Herden ruh'n auf der Weide; die Bauern ziehen zur Kirche nun im stattlichen Sonntagskleide. Es ist, als sängen die Vögel auch heut' schöner als andere Tage, als dufteten heut' mit stärkerem Hauch die Blumen im Feld und Hage. Und Orgelklänge tönen von fern, von Morgenlüften gehoben und Alles betet: wir loben den Herrn, und wollen ihn ewig loben.
