Ein kühler Hauch. Die Linde träumt, Und letztes Licht den Himmel säumt. Ein Wölkchen schwimmt durch's Abendrot, Ängstlich wie ein verirrtes Boot. Der Strom der Gassen braust und braut Tief unten, ein verworr'ner Laut, Da hastet noch und will nicht ruh'n Das Leben auf heißen Schuh'n. Mir ist die Seele wie ein Blatt, Das sich im Sommer sonnte satt, Und löst nun, so verlischt ein Traum, Sich leise ab von seinem Baum.
