ÉROS Diane, Je t'adore! DIANE Ah! perdue! ÉROS Écoute-moi! DIANE Pleurez, Solitudes! Maudis tes attributs sacrés, Chasseresse! Pour toi la neige était impure! Et, vierge, tu trouvais au lys une souillure, Foulant avec mépris Féther surnaturel! Et l'aigle est moins rapide à monter vers le ciel Qu'à monter à ton front la rougeur n'était prompte Alors ! nymphe orgueilleuse, à présent bois ta honte! ÉROS Diane! DIANE Laisse-moi. Va! laisse-moi pleurer! [Laisse mon sein gémir et mon cœur s'ulcérer. Homme, ne trouble pas mon angoisse suprême. Maudite, désolée, en horreur à moi-même, Blessée enfin d'un mal que rien ne peut guérir,]1 Je me hais. Que peux-tu d'ailleurs? ÉROS Je puis mourir.
